Indigenous Artist

My name is Zach Running Coyote. I am an actor, playwright, screenwriter and musician, living and working on Blackfoot Territory. I am adopted, and to my knowledge, carry Mi’gmaq, European settler and unknown bloodlines. I have community responsibilities to the Blackfoot, Cree, settler, and now, Mi’gmaq communities. I claim Elders from the Blackfoot and Cree communities as my teachers, these Elders who bear witness to my evolving story, sharing their care, love and knowing. These relations, my lineage and the relational responsibilities therein, are my constant priority and the centre of my artistic practice.
