Indigenous Artist

Aren Okemaysim is a nêhiyaw/Plains Cree multidisciplinary artist in the Theatre and Music industries. An actor, songwriter, musician, composer/sound designer and sound technician. He is also the main songwriter and producer behind okimawᐅᑭᒪᐤ – the roots/rock music outfit from the prairies.

Originally from Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation in Treaty 6 territory, he currently makes his home in Vancouver, BC; visitor to the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

When he is not on the job, he finds fulfillment out of spending time with loved ones, admiring different forms of art, drawing, watching movies, playing videogames, exploring his surroundings and listening to music.
