Indigenous Artist

Siminui Nauya was born in Ivujivik in 1984 and arrived in Montreal in 1995. He learned sculpture from Geta in 2014 in Montreal, which allowed him to connect to his culture and his ancestors. For him, sculpture is a meditation and a medicine. He sells his works to the galleries of the old port and participates every year in the Indigenous Culture of Montreal event. Since 2017, he has taught workshops at Concordia University and offered workshops to young Inuit from the DPJ.

In 2015, he met Aurélie Pedron, a multidisciplinary artist and built an artistic relationship with her based on mutual trust. They build together IN THE HEART OF THE HÉRON during a residency at Recto Verso (Quebec) which will be at offTA Montreal in 2020, presented on tour of the Maisons de la Culture in Montreal and at the Rouyn Noranda Art Museum.
