Indigenous Artist

Melvin John, Plains Cree, Technical Director. He is a graduate of the Native Theatre School of 1981 and has a Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies and is presently finishing his Masters of Fine Arts degree. He has been sharing traditional and personal stories through Dance and Storytelling with audiences of all ages for over 30 years and was a Men’s Fancy Dancer until 1995 when he changed to Men’s Northern Traditional.  He shares his teachings so that Native youth will re-gain pride and honour in their own cultural identity and so the non-Native world will be able to take 1 step closer to understanding Native peoples.
