Brandi Vezina is a singer/songwriter whose authentic country roots are intertwined with rock and the blues. She is a natural born performer who comes from a musical Metis family. Her biggest inspirations include Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin and Miranda Lambert.
American gangster, John Dillinger, was the ultimate bad boy. “John Dillinger Type” is about no longer being attracted to bad boys and is set to release this May 1. Vezina’s follow-up single to “Walk Away” continues to inspire people to expect more of their relationships. This is the second single Vezina from her anticipated #dontsettle EP that is set to be released in 2021.
She hopes, “Walk Away”, encourages people to leave relationships, workplaces and situations that are toxic. She uses her personal experience to write music that is meaningful and helpful to those who need the message of self-perseverance. Brandi teamed up with CCMA award winning producer, Murray Pulver, to bring “Walk Away” to life.
“John Dillinger Type” also produced by Pulver is about the types of relationships Brandi had once been in. She no longer is attracted to bad boys and “Walk Away” signifies that. She is currently creating YouTube videos as an author, blogger and singer/songwriter. Vezina blends her writing, singing and speaking into one and all three reach out to her audiences and fans.
Vezina has producers, Pulver and Randy Hiebert (lead guitar player for the Bellamy Brothers), working on the EP.
Vezina has been recognized as one of CBC Canada, the JUNO Awards and the National Music Centre Searchlight 2020 new favourite Canadian artists.
Vezina was selected by Indigenous Music, Manitoba Music and the Manitoba Arts Showcase as an Emerging Artist in 2018. Attending the Manitoba Arts Showcase inspired Vezina to write her own music and the confidence to play guitar live. After attending the showcase, Vezina, Pulver, who’s style of producing matches Vezina’s songwriting and personality.
In 2019, she played Manitoba Music’s New Night at the Goodwill along with lead guitar player, Jesse Bandura and bass player, Vaughan Poyser. Vezina played the Sakihiwe Festival in Winnipeg and was featured live at the APTN Indigenous Live at the Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She also performed for Recovery Day Live on the CN Stage at the Forks and for CBC Winnipeg’s Harvesting Hope program in 2019.
Vezina has recently been selected as an emerging artist by the Manitoba Arts Network in a series of Concerts in Care for Manitoba Seniors. And, she hosted Manitoba Music’s Open Mic Night in November and December in 2019. Vezina has been featured on the Indigenous Music Countdown; “Walk Away” and “John Dillinger Type” both can be heard on the Canadian Indigenous Peoples’ Radio on Sirius XM.
