Leonard Linklater and Patti Flather founded Gwaandak Theatre in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory in 1999. Indigenous peoples have called this spectacular land home for many thousands of years before the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. “Gwaandak” in the Gwich’in language means “telling a story” – it is the name Leonard’s father, the late Charlie Linklater, gave to the co-founder’s first daughter. Over the last 12 years, Gwanndak Theatre has consistently produced and performed compelling stories from and about the North.
